Advanced Massage Techniques For the Back

Are you a Practicing Therapist
and Bored with your Routine?

Are you Newly Qualified?

Then this practical one day workshop will expand your techniques and show you how to give an effective back massage in relation to body anatomy, practitioner posture and effective deep tissue techniques. The day will be very interactive and you'll leave feeling confident in the application of all the moves and techniques shown - and raring to get going with your clients!



 

Course Content and What You Will Learn

  • Surface anatomy of the back
  • Skin texture: temperature: degrees of change
  • Palpation of acute and chronic conditions (diagnostic)
  • Theory and practice of deep tissue massage
  • Heel of hand work
  • Forearm and elbow work
  • Basic Neuromuscular techniques for the back
  • Myofascial trigger points for the back
  • Practitioner posture and effective massage
  • How to "save your hands" during massage treatments
  • Suitable cold pressed vegetable oils
  • Safety notes and contraindications

A Certificate of attendance will be provided for this workshop


Course Requirements: Previous study of Anatomy, Physiology and Massage

The course is primarily practical in content and attendees will be required to bring a massage couch, with towels and 2 pillows and to wear appropriate work wear/whites. Comprehensive handouts will be provided to keep writing to a minimum.

Please note: Attendees will be required to examine and work on each other during the practical sessions.

Duration 1 day: 9.30am - 5.00pm (registration and refreshments from 9am)

Dates: Sunday, 12th October, 2008 & 18th October, 2009
